About Us

In our commitment to only providing diamonds of stunning beauty we grade our stones by the strictest measure. No jewelry house can say that their diamonds are better than those from Johnny Brookheart.

In short, all diamonds sold by Johnny Brookheart meet or exceed the following standards for quality, as defined by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA):

  • Clarity: Flawless to VS2
  • Color: D to F
  • Cut: Ideal to Very Good
  • Polish: Excellent to Very Good
  • Symmetry: Excellent to Very Good

Our diamonds have been inspected and certified by at least one internationally recognized gemstone laboratory. Your diamond ring will be accompanied by the original gemstone report from the GIA, AGS, or HRD laboratories. I invite you to learn about the high quality of our diamond grading and view our frequently asked questions about purchasing engagement rings online.

Our Diamonds

CUT, POLISH, and SYMMETRY

cutDiamonds have a special relationship with rays of light. As light enters a well-cut diamond it is reflected off the polished internal planes to exit via the facets and table. This assemblage of natural mirror provides both the white flash of reflected light and the rainbow-colored prismatic sparkle as exits through the top of the diamond. A mathematical relationship between angles and light reflection governs the optical performance of each diamond.

A high clarity diamond cut and polished to the proper ratios will reflect the maximum amount of light. This is why high quality diamonds tend to attract more compliments and captivate the eye.

All diamonds provided by Johnny Brookheart possess:
Cut
grade from Ideal to Very Good
Polish grading between Excellent to Very Good
Symmetry grading from Excellent to Very Good

COLOR

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Color Scale recognizes 23 distinct color variations in diamonds divided along an alphabetic scale from D to Z. The highest color diamonds are those described as “white” or “colorless” in the range of D to F. These gemstones are both extremely rare and highly prized.

All Johnny Brookheart engagement ring diamonds fall between D to F on the diamond color scale.

CLARITY

As diamonds form deep within the earth they develop imperfections known as inclusions (internal) and blemishes (external). Inclusions, taking the form of “feathers”, “clouded areas”, cavities, etc, can change a diamond’s light reflectivity or reduce its durability.

These clarity grades are used in Johnny Brookheart engagement rings:
IF: No internal inclusions or blemishes are visible at 10x magnification
VVS1 to VVS2: Has minute inclusions which are barely visible to a skilled grader under magnification
VS1 to VS2: Has minor inclusions detectable by a skilled grader under magnification

These clarity grades are below our standards and will never be used in a Johnny Brookheart engagement ring:
SI1 to SI2: Has noticeable inclusions which can be detected by the naked eye
I1 to I3: Has obvious inclusions that cannot be missed by the casual observer

CARAT

The term carat weight is used to describe a diamond’s size (mass). A one carat diamond weighs exactly 200 milligrams. Carat weights are usually listed in terms of decimals. For example: a half-carat diamond is said to weigh 0.50 carats. Though larger diamonds are more exciting and expensive, choosing the diamond that is right for you is simply a matter of taste. For this reason, we offer a variety of sizes.

Diamonds purchased from Johnny Brookheart will always posses a weight greater than or equal to the stated carat size.
