Edwardian Sea Serpent
Fierce! A beautiful rendition of a sea serpent originally purposed as a watch fob, and remade as a pendant. "SER" is reverse engraved on the base to be used as a wax seal.
The design bears a resemblance to the illustrations of period architect and illustrator Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. Whose drawings was themselves inspired by the 1640 woodcut of Draco Aethiopicus (Ethiopian Dragon) appearing in Serpentum, et draconum by Ulisse Aldrovandi.
With matching necklace chain.
